Course Outline
Course Curriculum

UNIT A: Se connaitre
Students learn how to talk about their character traits; how to express their moods; how to describe relationships with others; how to speak of their preferences.
GRAMMAR: les adjectifs reguliers et irreguliers; le passe compose; l'accord du participe passe; les verbes proniminaux au present

UNIT B: Les langues et la communication
Students will discuss various languages; differences between verbal and non-verbal communication; geographical places
GRAMMAR: le pronom y; les pronoms objets indirects lui et leur; les participes passes des verbes irreguliers; les prepositions et les pays/provinces/villes

UNIT C: La publicite
The theme of this unit is advertising. Students will learn what makes for effective advertising and how it affects consumers. They will learn how to talk about their preferences; how to use indirect discourse; how to ask for instructions; how to give orders.
GRAMMAR: le conditionnel; le pronom en; l'imperatif

UNIT D: Le monde autour de nous
The theme of this unit is the environment. Students will learn how to discuss ways of changing the world as well as ways to save and to respect the environment.
GRAMMAR: les expressions impersonnelles; le passe compose versus l'imparfait; une revision du conditionnel et de l'imperatif

UNIT E: L'avenir
This unit deals with the future. Students will discuss new inventions as well as learn how to express events that happen in the future.
GRAMMAR: le futur simple; les pronoms relatifs; qui, que, dont, ce qui et ce que.

MARK CALCULATION:
Oral Communication (listening and speaking) - 50
Reading - 25
Writing - 25
TOTAL - 100

FINAL MARK: Semester Mark (70%) + Oral Exam (10%) + Final Exam (20%)
